Bill Cosby, America's Dad and My Ideal Man. He had all the traits that I would want in a man with whom I could share my life with. And his Dysfunctional yet Perfect Family that I dreamed of having one day.
Well through my Teenage Years I told all my friends that he was the kind of Man I was looking for.
"Someone just like Bill Cosby," I replied time and time again.
Perhaps that was my first mistake.
I should have said, "Dr. Cliff Huxtable". I had clearly become one of the people, who mistake "The Character" for "The Man".
It's the curse of media. You think you know somebody because you know their onscreen characters so well. This man or That woman can certainly do no wrong, just look at who they play on TV. They are the best kind of role models out there.
But children, remember, there is a reason as to why the TV is called AN IDIOT BOX. It's because the people on it, who become a part of your lives just because you see them on TV every day, have the potential to RUIN your concepts of TRUST hopefully not forever.
I mean this can do you good in a way. You can become cautious, because many of the times, even the people we know in our Real lives, are different as to what they SAY and what they DO.
So let's talk about Bill Cosby, who was once a Legend, but has now turned into something Nasty that even ruins our memories of The Beloved Character he once breathed life into.
The man who was once considered an icon, a household name, someone who brought a paradigm shift in American Television, someone who was supposed to be remembered fondly by generations to come. Is now remembered in the Past Tense. Women had been making accusations against him since the 1960s but to no avail. This due to his "Teflon Image" as Buress puts it. The same Hannibal Buress who would later in 2014 make a stand-up comedy routine addressing the same issue. This led to a media frenzy that urged many other women to come forward with their own stories. The allegations are not alleged anymore and they range from,
Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault to Child Sexual Abuse.
Around a hundred women have come forward with their stories. How Hollywood, all-knowing and all-seeing kept everything hush-hush, swept everything under the rug, just makes me want to vomit. And in doing so they in part have encouraged the Deviant Behavior to go on for about 5 decades.
That accounts for a criminal act in itself.
Bill Cosby is a convicted sex offender as of now. He is serving 3 to 10 years in prison. Hope he stays in there for longer or maybe as he is quite old, he just might..........
And the result is that No Parent would encourage their children to watch An Epic Show that has been one of the best watches of my life.
I can't ever watch the show again. Alas, the one very bad, stinking egg spoiled the whole cake.
