Game of Thrones stylized as GOT has indeed been the GOAT of all television series for the past 8 years. No matter who was going to end up on the Iron Throne, one thing was certain, that this show was reigning high and steady, maintaining its Global Phenomenon status.
As some would simply put, 'Fame is Followed by Shit and Reign is Followed by Ruins of Castamere'. Game of Thrones could not live up to the promises it had made. The show that broke boundaries. The show which was like a REALITY-CHECK for many, that it is no rule that Good shall happen to those who are Good. One wrong move, one naive decision, failing to look over your shoulder and drinking wine with the losing side for just a single time, could cost you your life in the bid for the throne. And you better believe that everyone wanted to sit on that not so comfortable seat they call, The Iron Throne. It was made for butts of steel and brains filled with madness. For no just man could rule The Seven Kingdoms (certainly not Jon 'Mr. I don't want it' Snow).
Nobody would let a Good Man sit on the throne. It's just not feasible. All that Idealism does not work in the Real World and definitely would not work in the Show if only the writers could have remained sincere to Martin's Vision and not ruined the Ending because they wanted to make a Star Wars film, that is well who knows how that will turn out. And turning their backs on a show that was already everything a Show-writer could ever wish for.
ALL IT NEEDED WAS AN ENDING THAT WOULD BE MEMORABLE.
I mean it will be memorable, but for all the wrong reasons that are. People will remember it by all the conversations that they had about how the ending was rushed and reminiscing about HOW THE SHOW SHOULD HAVE or AT LEAST COULD HAVE ENDED!
AND FOR GOD's SAKE, STOP CALLING IT A BITTER-SWEET ENDING. IT WAS LIKE A FAIRY-TALE ENDING COMPARED TO WHAT WAS PROMISED BACK IN THE FIRST SEASON.
For someone who has read the books, the first 4 seasons were very well adapted. Martin's Ideology was alive in every moment you saw on the screen. But then everything trailed off after Tyrion killed Tywin. That was the last Shocker that made me pee my pants a little. After that, everything became unpredictable in the sense of saying, "I think this is going to happen, but it simply can't be. The writers won't be that predictable." But then they proved us all wrong.
The last glimpse of GOT's Greatness was when Cersei burned down Baelor's Sept and became the Mad Queen. She was the true Mad Queen. Not Daenerys.
As for all the theories that kept the Thrill alive until Season 8 started, they are going to be housed in the Hall of Memes forever. Even though there could be a better ending to the show.
Times like this make me wish for The String Theory to be true. If only in an Alternate Parallel Universe..............................
So this is my take on How Game Of Thrones Could have ended?!
But before that, I would like to pitch in a new take on Jon's parentage. Since the fact that he was a Targaryen did not amount to anything in the end. I want to pitch in another reveal that could have made things interesting.
I mean even the dragons did not respond to him in a special way, although they did to Tyrion.
This will be far-fetched and people who like happy endings and pure beginnings will not like it.
So according to me, Jon could have been a BARATHEON, yes I said it. I'll wait for shock and awe...................................................................................
Okay then.
We know that Robert Baratheon loved Lyana Stark since they were kids. We also know that Lyana did not share the same feelings towards him. But there is another trait of Robert Baratheon that we all know about and that is that he was a Hot-Blooded man.
What if after knowing about Lyana and Rhaegar Targaryen, he got in a rage and kidnapped Lyana and raped her. Like most men do, he confused Love and Ownership and defiled the woman he loved because he could not let someone else have her.
And when Rhaegar found out, he somehow freed Lyana and married her, knowing that she had become pregnant with Robert's child and claiming the child as his own.
And it was this event that started The War, which would still be known as Robert's Rebellion as he wanted Lyana back. But now there is a DOUBLE-TWIST to the theory of Jon's parentage.
I mean he would still be the present heir to the Throne. He would be a bastard though but if legitimized, he would be the next Baratheon in line. Gendry is younger than Jon, so his claim would come second.
Okay so I respect Martin's Vision and that is exactly why I am writing this post. I will not divulge from who died but I would do my own take on WHEN, HOW and by WHOM should they have been killed.
Night King and Bran Stark storyline -
The Night King could have been a Stark or a distant old relative with the same bloodline. He had the ability to Warg and was probably a Green-Seer just like Bran Stark. He was chosen by the Children of the Forest to change him into a WHITE WALKER because when he was a Man, he despised the invaders that had come to Westeros and wanted them gone. So his purpose kind of aligned with the Children. The Children did not know what they were creating and ultimately the Night King became someone who just wanted a new race, the race of the Undead to prevail over all else. And so he came after the Children too. He just wants all the LIVING to join the DEAD. That is his sole purpose.
About Bran, he was not the Night King from the start. But he became the Night King after the original 3 Eyed Raven died and all knowledge of all the world was transferred to Bran. He became the Night King when he time traveled and was touched by the Night King himself. That MARK connected him to the Night King. So the Night King knew everything that Bran Stark knew and vice versa. Over time they became ONE. This would make NK totally undefeatable. Since becoming a single entity it did not matter who actually made it to King's Landing. As Bran did make it to the end, well that was the Night King being victorious. Only now he would make a NEW-BREED, an amalgamation of the Undead and Green-Seers like Bran. An EVOLVED SPECIES to take over the ENTIRE - WORLD and not just Westeros.
I mean GOT had promised something different from the old, Goodness Shall Prevail In The End. But we all know that is not usually the case in the Real World. So it was plausible that the Night King could actually WIN in the end.
But if the world at large cannot stomach such an ending, then at least let us see The Night King go beyond Winterfell and almost take over the entire Westeros and then finally being defeated.
The Show killed him like someone would squat a fly. That is just DISRESPECTFUL to a VILLAIN, such a powerful villain at that.
As for the other characters, I have to say the following -
CERSEI - She was one of the Greatest Characters on the show and in my opinion, she deserved a more DYNAMIC DEATH.
I really wanted Jamie to kill Cersei and become QUEENSLAYER too. I mean what about the Valonqar theory.
TYRION - I would have loved the angle where he was a Targareyan too. Although a bastard, he would be the oldest of the lot of 'BLACKFYRES Clan' and a Great King post legitimization. Although him ending up as the HAND, makes him the King basically, so that is fine by me.
SANSA and ARYA - Their Storylines were very well written, but I would have liked to see Arya's Face Swapping skills a little more.
DAENERYS - For me, Dany should have become the NIGHT QUEEN and not the Mad Queen. She was never mad, and for Seven God's Sake, THERE WAS NO FORESHADOWING, it was just a pathetic way to justify the Ending.
So that is my take on how GOT could have ended. Tell me about yours in the comments below !!!!!!!
